“We do not rise to the level of our goals, we fail to the level of our systems.”
What is a System?
A “System” is a set of interconnected parts that interact to form a whole with properties or behaviors that emerge from their interactions.
While habits are small, systems vary in scope from the tiny to the large: from a place to leave your keys, wallet and phone for you to pick up on your way out, to the collections of devices, routers and networks that make up the Internet, the nervous system of our planet.
Individuals, teams and organizations all follow systems, whether consciously or not.
Understanding systems, recognizing their parts, interactions and what emerges from their application, is critical to grow in our rapidly changing world.
